On the 27th of July, together with the connectivity project, our team developed an event with the purpose of outdoor education through experimental learning activities.

Experimental learning is a process through which people develop knowledge, skills, and values directly from personal experiences, through the analysis of, and reflection on, the activities they are involved in. Experiential learning is, quite simply, learning by doing. It requires personal involvement and offers tailor-made learning processes.

In this edition of outdoor education, we developed diverse activities with the purpose of our participants to develop and improve teamwork. This subject can be valuable in various situations in life, such as the workplace and personal growth.

The activities design consisted in:

1. Attached:

Make pairs and attach them by the ankles with a cord. First, make them walk around synchronized, answering questions as an ice breaker and to make them feel more comfortable with the designated partner.

After that, join two pairs, so they have to improve their communication and listening skills to be able to walk.

Keeping the pace going, join other groups until they are all connected and have to take a step together.

2. Water bottle and pens:

Divide the group into four different teams. Give each team a blindfold and a pen attached to the string. While one team member is blindfolded with the string attached to their hip hanging like a tail in the back, the other team has to direct the said team member into putting the pen inside the water bottle.

3. Taking action:

Separate everyone, make them lie on the ground blindfolded and relax with some chill music, and make them think. (about the previous lessons, what makes them at peace…)

While they are in this state distribute the pens and the papers. Tell them to take a deep breath take the blindfold and ask them to write on paper a dream they have for the future. After that, write what can they do in the week to make them closer to achieving that dream.

After each activity, it was asked the participants to share their experiences and try to explain the reason they were doing said activities. Afterward, it was ascribed the meaning and the intention behind it.

More about Connectivity :

Connectivity is a KA2 Erasmus+ Adult Education project which focuses on developing a method of sustainable inclusion for unemployed adults through educational outdoor activities.

While developing the project idea we approached organizations that work already with this specific target group through non-formal tools and can bring a wide variety of ideas and experience along. Each of our partners has a different working environment, therefore their method and impact are also different from one another, still, they all share the need of creating outdoor activities that hold educational value and could stimulate motion in their local communities and beyond.

Project Objectives:

Extending and training the competencies:

Extending and training the competencies of our partner organizations when working with fewer opportunity adults (designing activities, creating a sustainable relationship with the target group, offering different learning opportunities within the organization, encouraging the active participation of unemployed adults within society)

Disseminating the project results:

Disseminating the project results, inside and outside of the participating countries with the support of the associated organizations during and after the project duration;

Partnership:

Creating a sustainable partnership of complementary parties.

Improving and extending the supply:

Improving and extending the supply of high-quality learning opportunities tailored to the needs of individuals fewer opportunities for adults so they enhance their key competencies;

Step-by-step evaluation:

Ensuring the step-by-step evaluation of the project through transnational meetings, training events, Europass, and learning questionnaires.
