Yesterday in front of the main building of the American University of Bulgaria took place one of our many offline promotions as part of the Time to Move initiative!

Being in front of the university building allowed us to meet many young people and distribute many brochures, as well as to inform them about ERASMUS opportunities. Participants had the chance to play several games that the volunteers prepared beforehand and to learn about different aspects of Europe through these games. Our booth also gave out reusable water bottles and organic foods such as fruits and bars. It was a nice treat to those who participated and learned something new!

Our goal was to promote our ideas and initiatives including intercultural and creative events that leave room for creativity, discovery, and interaction with countless cultural diversity. Obviously, there was no lack of opportunity to raise awareness about the programs of the European Solidarity Corps and Erasmus+, ABS being a sending association in this regard.

Many people who came up to the booth had no knowledge about any of these programs, so it was rewarding to teach them about opportunities they could take advantage of. The volunteers acted as disseminators, each of them telling their story and experience with the programs, how they benefitted from them, and what they learned. It was also important to note to the participants that these programs are meant to be entirely accessible to anyone, and that funding is provided for them!

Our volunteers from Germany, France, Spain, Italy, and Bulgaria told locals about their experience with:

what the ECS is, individual volunteering and volunteer teams, their experience of volunteering in the programme, Erasmus+ for Youth;
what long-term volunteering in Active Bulgarian Society consists of;
the importance of non-formal education and its advantages and disadvantages;
what a volunteer's work consists of and what skills and knowledge they can acquire while participating in the ECS and Erasmus+ Programmes

We were pleased with the interest shown by the young people of the university and happy to see in them curiosity about volunteering opportunities, abroad or here in Blagoevgrad in ABS! Greater participation among them means more engagement with society and greater youth development in the region.

Thank you to the Blagoevgrad community for stopping by to talk with us and for your interest in what we do!

We hope to see you soon at one of our events, we are waiting for you!🇪🇺🌍
