‘Social Entrepreneurship’, hm, sounds hard. Have you ever heard of this term? Does it sound like something difficult to understand?
However, Active Bulgarian Society (ABS) could not leave these questions unanswered.
That is why the ABS team organized a Workshop on the topic ‘what is social entrepreneurship’, and tried to answer the questions on how to develop such a business, what are the steps towards it and what are the benefits that come with it.
It all started when together three of the ABS’ volunteers researched about the topic and got the idea, and after that, on the 21st August  2019, the idea transformed into reality and the workshop took place. Young aspiring entrepreneurs, volunteers, and locals took part in it.

What is social entrepreneurship? Social entrepreneurship is an approach by start-up companies and entrepreneurs, in which they develop, fund and implement solutions to social, cultural, or environmental issues. Today we have many issues that need to be fixed, in every field, and here come the social entrepreneurs which with their innovative ideas find solutions.

At the beginning of the workshop, all the participants were asked what they knew about the topic, but most of them did not know much.

ABS team members presented the Erasmus+ project: EntreprenEUrship for CultYOUre” (EU4YOU), its objectives, local and international impact, and goals achieved.
After the presentation, they were surprised to find out so much and even had ideas about new startups of social businesses. For instance, a group of three participants  presented an idea about car sharing associated with couch surfing. Another group had the idea of creating a dog shelter all funded by sponsors and managed by volunteers. Others thought about the current social problem of refugees and healthcare and got the idea of even developing an app to help them.

The workshop transformed into an intense discussion and exchange of ideas and practices, so DO NOT MISS the next one!

This workshop is part of the long-term project EntreprenEUrship for CultYOUre and it is co-financed by the Erasmus+ Program of the European Commission and coordinated by the Youth Express Network
