📌PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
We have 3 different volunteering opportunities in the UK to offer. Two take place in Keswick, the other in Carlisle. You will have the opportunity to develop your skills, grow as a person, learn independence, live the British culture and make an impact in the local and wider community. The projects will take place over 11 months (earliest starting date October 2019), [except for the Environmental project, which will take 10], in and around the county of Cumbria.
📌THE PROJECT AIM(s):
1. "VOLUNTEER FOR YOUTH - CARLISLE YOUTH ZONE "
Carlisle Youth Zone (http://www.carlisleyouthzone.org/) seeks help with overall youth work and delivery of youth activities. A youth work volunteer is needed to work with designated team leaders to provide innovative and challenging positive activities to build social and emotional skills of young people. This involves work in sport, music, drama, dance and arts and crafts. Full training and experiential learning will be provided for European volunteers.
2. "VOLUNTEER FOR SPORT AND HEALTH ACROSS GENERATIONS "
This volunteering opportunity offers the chance to experience interesting and rewarding work in a professional but fun environment. Volunteers would be part of the delivery of the Active Keswick concept working with others to deliver programmes to all ages, abilities and genders across a range of activity areas including sport and outdoor education
3. "VOLUNTEER FOR SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENT"
As part of your volunteer role you will:
- Contribute to sustainable tourism and sustainability education
- Work with the local community to promote environmental awareness
- Build up your CV and enhance your future
- Develop competences in environmental work (Infrastructure maintenance, forestry, resource, construction and environmental management skills) and environmental education
- Improve team working and interpersonal skills in general
- Deliver youth activities
- Improve language skills
- Enhance your intercultural understanding
- Work in an office environment covering all aspects (Fundraising, administration, logistics, project management, social media)
- Use film and media to showcase your work
📌OBJECTIVES:
Skills and knowledge: We aim to give you a lot of new skills and experience during your EVS placement and we will work to a learning development plan to ensure that your needs are met. These volunteer placements will offer new knowledge, skills and competences to the volunteers, including:
- Improved English language skills
- Teamwork experience
- Communication and interpersonal skills in a variety of contexts
- Knowledge and understanding of ecology, environmental education and related work areas
- Practical skills in environmental management, forestry etc
- Leadership skills
- Organisational and administrative skills
- General professionalism through daily work experience
- Understanding the reality and requirements of a regular working schedule
- Intercultural understanding (appreciation of other cultures and ability to express and share their own)
- Increased motivation and self confidence
- Self organisation and ability to live independently
- Problem solving
📌PARTICIPANTS' PROFILE:

📌VENUE AND ACCOMMODATION:
YOUTH PROJECT (1) You will have your own room in a shared flat in the town of Carlisle. There are a shared kitchen, 1 bathroom, and a nice sized living area. The flat is walking distance of the shops and surrounding areas and is in an old converted church.
SPORTS AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS (2 & 3): You will have your own room in a shared flat in the town of Keswick. There is a shared kitchen, 2 bathrooms and a nice sized living area. The flat is within walking distance of the shops and surrounding areas.
📌 TRAVEL BUDGET AND TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT:
You will receive £200 per month for your food allowance and £120 per month for your personal allowance. We will help you to set up a bank card to receive your money (usually Pockit).
We will return you the money for your travel to and back from the project. Keep in mind we will return the money up to the limit of €360
